How I Make Posing for Boudoir Not So Scary and More Fun

“What if I don’t know how to pose?” is a question I get all the time. I don’t blame clients for asking! Posing for boudoir is probably one of the scariest parts of a session. A lot of people aren't used to being in front of the camera and most people aren’t used to posing – especially with very little clothing on.

Luckily, I got you!

I walk every single one of my clients through things like where to put their hands, how to lay, and where to look. Whether you’re good with direction or more of a visual learner and need someone to mirror, we’ll make it work.

Often, clients are worried about posing for boudoir sessions because they think it all has to be sultry and sexy. That’s not the case! I’m definitely here for the smiles and laughing photos. I want to show the most authentic version of YOU in your photos, and we’ll make sure the poses we use reflect that.

Depending on how adventurous you are willing to get, you can be sore after the session from certain boudoir poses. This is totally normal, so be prepared! I encourage my clients to stretch leading up to the session and before we get started. We’ll also start off by doing some easy, warm up poses to get the vibe flowing and you feeling good. So don’t worry, we won’t jump right into anything crazy!

My biggest boudoir posing tip?

RELAX! I promise it's easier than you think once we get started and you get a feel for how the session is going to go. I understand that most women have something they're dealing with or that they might be insecure about. I will show you a photo pretty early into the session to show you how amazing you look. Like I said before, I’m with you the whole time, we’re in this together!

A few things you'll hear me say often are: “nice and tall,” “chest forward,” “ass back,” “arch your back,” “big deep breath,” and “don't move!” I’ll give you constant reminders of these things and will let you know where to look, when to smile, and yes, we do focus on how I want you to breathe!
