4 Important Ways To Get Ready For A Boudoir Photoshoot

So you’ve booked your boudoir photoshoot (or you’re still thinking about it…) and you’re not sure how to be as prepared as possible. Don’t worry, girl, I’ve got you! Let’s break down the 4 things you’ll need to do to get ready for a boudoir photoshoot.

  1. Prep that bod

Due to the obvious nature of a boudoir photoshoot, you won’t be wearing much in these photos. Let’s go over some do’s and don’ts for body prep before your photoshoot.

DO

  • Shave/wax/thread/laser. This includes legs, bikini area, underarms, eyebrows, whatever you’d like. If you don’t prefer to get rid of body hair, that’s cool too! Whatever makes you comfortable.

  • Get a mani/pedi. Make sure you think about your outfits when selecting a polish color!

  • Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Your skin will thank you.

  • Get that eyelash extension fill. Keep those lashes full so you can look sultry as hell in these photos.

  • Get your haircut and/or colored. Fresh hair is always ideal!

  • Stretch! Seriously, start the day you book your session. Hell, start before! A boudoir session is a workout and you will probably be sore for a couple of days after. You don't need to sign up for a yoga class, but some basic full body stretches will prepare you for the shoot.

DON’T

  • Don’t do anything you haven’t done before. This isn't the time to get your first wax, don’t cut those bangs you’ve been thinking about, and don’t get your first spray tan. If you’re not positive about how you’ll look after doing the thing, don’t risk it!

2. Plan your outfit

I recommend to all my clients that they bring 3 different lingerie options. While we may not shoot all 3, it’s great to have options! Make sure one of the options scares the shit out of you - seriously! This is the time to push your own limits.

Some places to buy are Bluebella, ASOS, Honey Birdette, Adore Me, Nordstrom, Yandy, SheIn, Forever21, Amazon, Love Vera, etc.

3. Plan your hair and makeup

Your session with me includes a makeup artist, so you don’t have to do your own makeup on the day of your shoot, but it is helpful if you have an idea of what you like and what you feel the most confident in. You can use Pinterest to find some inspiration photos to show the makeup artist.

You will have to do your own hair for a boudoir photoshoot with me, so arrive with your hair done. I recommend practicing your hairstyle before the day-of so you know you can nail it when it counts!

4. Don’t stress

Take a deep breath and relax! I know boudoir photoshoots can be intimidating. I know it is easier said than done, but rest assured that making you feel comfortable is one of my top priorities. My clients are not typically models, and I don’t expect you to know exactly how to pose or what to do at all times. I will be directing you through the entire session, showing you how to move, where to stand, where to put your hands, etc. We’re in this together, and like I said before, I got you!!

That pretty much covers it! Once you've done these things, you're ready for a boudoir photoshoot. The idea of your boudoir session is much more intimidating than the actual session. We’ll have a great time, I promise!
