It’s Really About Confidence and Empowerment - Jill’s Boudoir Session
I met Jill while I was working as a nurse (my first patient turned client!). Somehow, even with my mask on, she recognized me from Instagram and asked if I was a photographer. She wasn’t sure how she had found me, but she followed both my personal Instagram account and my boudoir page. We kept in touch over DM and that’s where she opened up to me about her incredible weight loss journey. I shoot boudoir photography to empower women and celebrate their bodies, so capturing where Jill was on her journey and helping her build self confidence while we were at it felt like a no brainer!
We had the shoot at my favorite boutique hotel in Los Angeles. I love the vibe there - the decor works so well with my style.
When we talked about her “why” when it came to this session, Jill said, “I have been on a weight loss journey for almost 2 years. I have lost 114 pounds to date. I am in this entire new body. I have learned along the way to be kinder to myself and patient with the process. I want to celebrate my accomplishments and really see who this new woman is. I am still adjusting with my body changes, but I couldn't be any more proud of myself for sticking with it. I feel much more comfortable in my skin and I'm looking forward to showing that in my shoot with you.”
How remarkable is that?! It’s hard enough to feel comfortable in the skin you’re in, but after such big changes, it can be even harder. Taking control and giving yourself the opportunity to celebrate yourself and your body through a boudoir session is incredible.
I learned more and more throughout the boudoir session just how amazing of a person Jill is, inside and out. It was such a powerful session, and even emotional at times. She teared up when I showed her a photo from the back of my camera and said, “I can’t believe that is me.” I love being able to show women how amazing they are and help them gain the confidence they deserve! With each photo I showed her, the more comfortable and confident she got, and the photos just kept getting better and better.
It was a great day of confidence, empowerment, and gorgeous photos. I love how Jill’s session turned out! And her message to me afterward really summed up a lot of what I love about being a boudoir photographer. “This was the best experience doing this photo shoot and you were the best person to do this with. I am beyond grateful to have met you. And I pray more women will be open to doing this for themselves. You capture the core beauty of each woman you shoot. You are doing wonderful things for women all around. Thank you!! 😘"
